Indaux to lead two R&D projects funded by the Basque Government

Laboratorio

Polisurf and Joint are two of the research projects that have been launched within the Hazitek 2019 programme of the Basque Government to support R&D of companies and boost the circular economy.

The Polisurf project aims to eco-design and manufacture a new polymer from recycled plastic, but with a metal finish. Several companies from various sectors are involved in the project, which will be carried out in advanced and environmentally friendly manufacturing environments. The results will help Indaux to improve its international competitiveness and will be a driving force for the rest of the Basque business fabric.

The aim of the Joint project is to use recycled material to manufacture a hidden connector fitting for panels that simplifies the assembly of furniture for the end user as much as possible and offers a creative solution to furniture manufacturers.

Both projects form part of the specialisation areas of the Science, Technology and Innovation Plan, Euskadi 2020. Circular economy is a strategy for improving the competitiveness of companies and combating resource scarcity and fluctuation of prices. It helps to create new business opportunities and seeks new and more efficient ways of producing and consuming.

Marketing of the Junior Co coplanar cabinet

After the excellent reception of our new Junior CO coplanar cabinet at the SICAM and Interzum trade fairs, the moment has arrived to market it.

Indaux has made this high-end cabinet model available to its customers at an accessible price, which maintains its two doors in the same plane when closed. The launching of this model has been possible thanks to our long leadership in lower runner cabinets.

The Junior Co is a kit added to the Junior 6 slider that converts a cabinet into the coplanar type. It also allows distributors and fitters with Junior 6 stock to offer a new expression of the cabinet by simply adding a small part kit.

The European Committee for Furniture Safety Standardization meet at Indaux

CENA total of 8 members of the European Committee for Furniture Safety Standardization from 6 countries came to Getaria the half-yearly meeting, held in a different location each time. At the Indaux facilities, representatives from the companies Ikea, Hettich, Blum and Fira attended, as well as members of the German (DIN) and Danish (DS) standards institutes. Indaux actively participated in the meeting, and carried out tests in its laboratory, so the CEN members could monitor the validity of the tests.

On this occasion, the working group made progress on the corrosion protection standard and the standard on connector fittings. As regards the standard on assembly fittings, the manufacturers proposed simplifying the tests and sending the agreed protocol to the Rosenhein University in Germany for its evaluation. As regards the corrosion standard, a standard was agreed by which all the manufacturers can indicate the degree of corrosion protection of each part in a uniform way in their catalogues. Also presented was the first draft of the standard project on star-based, single-axis chair legs.

The next committee meeting will be a plenary session which will take place in London on 22 May.

Manufacturing capacity and product development, the values that Indaux will promote at Interzum

Stand IndauxIndaux is going to Interzum 2019 with the aim to give a new boost to its identity as a flexible European product developer and manufacturer capable of putting its solutions into production to meet the needs of the furniture industry. From a more commercial point of view, the aim is to find and consolidate relationships with partners, which has been growing over the last two decades.  For that reason, Indaux has opted for a closed stand design, which creates a more welcoming environment and allows a more personalised service, receiving the visitors at the reception area where a salesperson will be allocated.

The portfolio of products on the stand will be made up of some of the most successful solutions from the Indaux catalogue; such as the Traser 6 and Scarpi 4 anti-tilt hangers, the Komplet runner, the Delta X3 strut for supporting heavyweights, the Atlas system for suspended furniture and the eccentric steel clock, with a more competitive price but with identical performance to the Zamak version, and that was presented at the Interzum Awards.

Among the new products are:

Junior Co: this is an additional kit for the Junior 6 runner which converts a cabinet to coplanar, which is furniture that when closed has the two doors in the same plane. The Junior Co means democratising the coplanar cabinet, and allows the distributors and fitters with stock of Junior 6 to give a turn to the cabinet by simply adding a small part kit.

Indamatic independent: this is a damping and closing system for sliding doors and drawers. This can be adapted with different bodies to different solutions, special machining operations and new applications.

Traser 8 anti-tilt: This is the latest of the modern hangers from Indaux which has the anti-tilt option. It is an invisible hanger that automatically actuates the safety mechanism on fitting the cover.

Foldn: This is an update of the cabinet folding sliding door system, which has improved the sliding sensation by optimising the roller. A system that can operate with the bottom rail and without the bottom rail, and can convert into an opening system of a passage door.

Mesuco 131 X Titanium: A hinge with a very up-to-date finish, to match the furniture industry fashion.

The stand is located, as at previous events, in the Interzum Hall 8 and occupies one of the central aisles with stands C-31-C39.

Indaux reinforces its presence in Central America

Indaux has been present in Central America for more than 25 years, when it was received in the region as a European manufacturer of quality hardware, with the advantage of sharing the language. During this time, we have developed long-lasting relationships with local partners in the main countries.

Since Pablo Arratibel took over the responsibility of this market three years ago, it has received significant impetus, providing support with his continuous journeys for the distribution structure, signing new agreements and, above all, taking note of the market’s demands to adapt the products to regional needs at the factory.

Based in Costa Rica, Luis Barquero and his Modern Solutions (Somos) team have made a commitment to communicating the advantages of quality hardware, with European specifications, as regards functionality, durability, guarantee and customer satisfaction. To this end, he has worked hand in hand with local furniture manufacturers, schools and standards bodies. With his efforts he has contributed his grain of sand to the evolution of the market. SOMOS collaborated with Indaux in the introduction of furniture solutions in other countries of the region, such as for example with Olins for El Salvador and Constructora Global in Guatemala.

In Panama, our distributor Joi Wood, one of the country’s leading furniture manufacturers, has recently moved to new installations, which are among the country’s largest and most modern in its sector. With its commitment to quality hardware, Joi Wood has managed to turn Indaux into a reference in Panama.

Indaux has been present in the Mexican market for more than 25 years, through Molducan/Guillas, which is making a strong commitment to bringing in products with higher added value to the Mexican furniture industry, with a very positive evolution and results.

The Marc-II runner, now more competitive

marcII

R&D investment to develop the Komplet runner has also impacted its sister piece, the Marc-II, now available at a more competitive price.

Marc II is one of the most well-established benchmark products in Indaux’s portfolio. This hidden partial extraction runner for wooden drawers can support up to 25 kilos and its multiple options include push-to-open, auto-close and the INDAmatic progressive soft close system.

The runner is compatible with drawers measuring between 300 and 650 mm. The exceptionally soft mechanism owes its design to the latest generation patented INDAmatic system and innovative runner materials.
