The Getaria Zarautz Indaux Viveros San Antón Women’s Team qualified to race for the Bandera de La Concha 2016 after taking fifth place in the qualification regatta, held the first Thursday of September in the bay of San Sebastian. The women’s crew has participated in the honour round at La Concha Regattas since it began in 2008, during the years 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016.
During the first day, Getaria-Zarautz’s women placed fourth, 25 seconds behind winner Hibaika. During the second day, when they participated in the honour round, they placed fifth, 64 seconds behind victorious San Juan. The girls from Getaria Zarautz Indaux Viveros San Antón are rounding off an excellent season, after placing fifth in the Guipuzcoan league.
On the other hand, the men’s team placed third in the ARC (Asociación de Remo del Cantábrico) (Cantabrian Rowing Association) league.
Indaux has been supporting Getariako Arraun Elkartea (GAE) since 1995. “We have supported junior players. Rowing is a sport that is deeply-rooted in fishing culture,” explains Javier Echave, Industrial Manager at Indaux and member of the board of directors with Getariako Arraun Elkartea.
Indaux’s team’s bond with rowing is close, since there are many rowers, ex-rowers, managers and active coaches on staff, all in different Rowing Clubs in the area, Getaria, Ondarroa, Zarautz and Orio.
A tribute to all of them, Gora Arrauna!
